OnerChatPrivacy
OnerChat is a chat app that connects a business with its customers. The business you chat with runs its own OnerChat server; this page explains what the app stores there, what leaves it, and how to have your data removed.
What is stored
- Your account: your name and company if you enter them, your phone number if you sign in with it or add it, and the email address and account id from Google or Apple if you sign in that way. Apple may give a private relay address instead of your real one.
- Your conversations: messages, photos, voice notes, locations you choose to share, products you send and orders you place, with their timestamps and read receipts.
- A notification token for your phone, so the business can notify you of replies and order updates. You choose in the app whether you also receive offers.
Where it is kept
On the server operated by, or for, the business you chat with. OnerChat itself does not collect your messages, does not sell data and shows no advertising. The business sees what you send it, like any shop you message.
What leaves the server
- Sign-in: if you choose Google or Apple, those companies confirm who you are and tell the server your account id, name and email. Their own privacy policies apply to that step.
- Notifications: push notifications travel through Apple's and Google's notification services and Expo's push service. They carry the notification text only.
- SMS codes: if phone-number sign-in is on, the code is sent through an SMS provider such as Twilio, which receives your number for that message.
Your choices
- Change your name, company and phone number, or switch offers on and off, under Account in the app.
- Sign out at any time from the same screen; your conversation history remains with the business as a record of your orders.
- To delete your account and messages, ask the business you chat with, or write to [email protected] and we will pass the request on. Order records a business must keep for accounting may be retained as the law requires.
Staff accounts
Business staff sign in to the web dashboard with an email address and password set by their administrator. Their name is shown to customers when they reply.
